What is the difference between the types of yarns they have?TRAMAS yarns are characterized by their excellent quality. There are an infinite number of ways to make a yarn, whether with natural or synthetic fibers, at TRAMAS we use only 100% natural, animal and vegetable fiber yarns, taking advantage of their qualities and sometimes mixing them together to obtain a unique yarn. We only work with thin fibers, which give us softness and comfort when using knitted garments. Next, we detail each of our products: Wool: Wool is surely the most well-known yarn for all weavers, it comes from the sheep. By its nature, it is a thermal fiber that maintains body heat, it is an elastic, resistant and flexible material. During the process of obtaining the wool, it does not harm the sheep, shearing is carried out once a year, it is cut with a machine or scissors and the wool is expected to grow again and another shearing is carried out. After shearing, dirty wool is obtained, which is then washed to create tape wool (also known as Top), which is then spun to obtain different thicknesses of wool. The one worked in TRAMAS is Merino Superwash wool, to differentiate it, we explain what the concept "Merino" and "Superwash" mean. Sheep have different breeds, depending on this is the softness of the wool. The most used for fine fabrics are Merino wool (for super fine fabrics) and Corridale (for fine fabrics), Merino wool is softer and of better quality than Corridale, Merino sheep has a finely curly and soft wool.< /p> The concept of "Superwash" is used throughout the world to define a factory treatment that is carried out on wool to give it the necessary properties so that the fabrics can be washed in the washing machine without becoming deformed or shrinking, a property that wool does not have siesque this treatment is not applied, which basically what it does is minimize the "fuzz" and outer hairy layer of the wool, consequently, an even softer wool is also obtained. The Merino Superwash Wool also has another variation that is DK or FINGERING, this speaks of the thickness of the wool, it is a universal nomenclature that divides the wool by thickness, which allows us to adapt our yarns to international standards. There are 8 different categories that group the wool giving us the information of the recommended sticks and crochet to weave it and the size of the sample. The most used by TRAMAS are DK and FINGERING, the DK corresponds to a "light" yarn in a 10 cm sample of Jersey stitch, 21 to 24 stitches are knitted, 3.5 to 4.5 mm sticks are recommended, while in crochet a 10 cm sample is worked with 12 to 17 single crochet stitches of 4.5 to 5.5 mm. The FINGERING is a "Super Fine" yarn, to make a 10 cm Jersey stitch sample, 33 to 40 stitches must be knitted, recommended for a 1.5 to 2.5mm toothpick, while in crochet we knit a 10 cm sample with 32 to 42 single crochet stitches from 1.5 to 2.5 mm. In the FINGERING thickness, lace stitches or loose fabrics are made a lot that create a lace shape, for this you must knit with thicker sticks or crochet, what is described above is to knit an even fabric with a traditional stitch. Baby Alpaca: It is the natural fiber obtained from the hair of the Alpaca, it is a fiber with a very small diameter so it is very soft. The Baby Alpaca is even more so since it is the first haircut that is made to an alpaca, consequently, it is scarcer, but of better quality than the common yarn obtained from the most mature Alpaca. It is a luxurious fiber, of excellent quality, it is soft and silky, similar to Merino lama in softness (the Baby being even softer) and has the particularity of being presented in many natural tones (such as white, ecru, light and dark brown, different shades of gray, silver colors, etc.) that add up to a total of 22 different colors that are presented in different shades depending on the Alpaca. The Baby Alpaca is a very fine and careful yarn, so it cannot be washed in the washing machine, you must wash it by hand with lukewarm-cold water and then dry horizontally (without hanging it). Cotton: It is the most important natural fiber produced in the world, almost half of the textile fibers sold in the world are cotton. Cotton yarn comes from the fibers that cover the seed of the cotton plant. It is widely used to make soft textiles. It comes in the form of threads, at TRAMAS we work with 12-strand cotton in two thicknesses (thick 150 meters per 100gr and thin 250 meters per 100gr), it has greater resistance than wool (it is firmer) but less than linen. and silk. It is ideally used to make breathable garments, such as summer clothing or accessories. This yarn can be washed without any problem in the washing machine, since it does not felt or shrink. Linen with Silk: Linen is the fiber obtained from the stem of the Linen plant, it is the fiber with the greatest strength and durability, it has the quality of becoming more beautiful over time, it is a fiber that absorbs moisture and dries quickly. On the other hand, silk is obtained from the cocoon of the silkworm, it is a yarn that has shine and softness, it has the quality of mixing very well with other yarns, that is why in TRAMAS we work with linen and silk. together, which complement each other, silk gives it greater softness and takes away the hardness of linen, while linen provides its beauty, resistance and durability, it is a yarn that absorbs colors very well and when dyed gives shades with a subtle shine and particular colors since it is not white, but silvery gray. Any questions you have about which is the most suitable for your project, just write to us and we will help you with whatever you need.
